A Can-ny Campaign Strategy

A Can-ny Campaign Strategy

“Lids are very relevant seasonal paraphernalia for many. Everyone accepted the gifts, even adherents of other political views.”

– Local news from gorbatka.ru on United Russia’s election campaign strategy

Russian online news outlet Znak reported on August 23 that members of the United Russia party – associated with President Vladimir Putin – have conceived of a veggie veggie convincing campaign strategy. Russia’s Duma, or federal assembly, elections are quickly approaching. United Russia distributed caps for canning preserves emblazoned with their logo in the village of Krasnaya Gorbatka on July 24, the day the locality celebrated the 148th anniversary of its founding. Residents of the Vologda and Vladimir regions have since reported that United Russia has not been subtle about the “gardening” theme of their campaigning. For a party that aspires to bring Russia back to its patriotic roots, celebrating greenery might keep them out of a pickle come election time.
