Vaccination is the Cat's Meow

Vaccination is the Cat's Meow
A cat getting vaccinated isn't actually totally out of the question in Russia, given that the country has developed shots to protect your furry friends against the deadly virus Photo by Towfiqu Barbhuiya via Unsplash

In a video posted on the official Telegram channel of the Moscow Regional Headquarters for the containment of Coronavirus a rather portly kitty meows quite loudly with the caption reading "I got my vaccine!"

The cat goes on to brag about how they can fly across the border and their friend (who presumably is not vaccinated) cannot. Then, in much less polite terms, the cat orders their friend to go get vaccinated but adds the word "please" to the end to make up for the expletive.

The video was taken down pretty quickly and replaced with a censored version, but the sentiment remains. As Russia still remains below many counties in terms of the total percentage of the population vaccinated and the restrictions in many cities are growing greater and greater, perhaps this passive-aggressive feline public health aid is the hero the country needs.

Marooned in Moscow

This gripping autobiography plays out against the backdrop of Russia's bloody Civil War, and was one of the first Western eyewitness accounts of life in post-revolutionary Russia. Marooned in Moscow provides a fascinating account of one woman's entry into war-torn Russia in early 1920, first-person impressions of many in the top Soviet leadership, and accounts of the author's increasingly dangerous work as a journalist and spy, to say nothing of her work on behalf of prisoners, her two arrests, and her eventual ten-month-long imprisonment, including in the infamous Lubyanka prison. It is a veritable encyclopedia of life in Russia in the early 1920s.
