On June 28, 2022, the US announced a sanction against gold imports from Russia, because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The US Treasury Department made the announcement, stating that any gold from Russia shipped on or after June 28 will not be allowed to enter the US.

Along with banning gold imports, additional sanctions were announced against Russian companies and individuals. The 100+ companies sanctioned entail those that are of major importance for Russian military efforts, including Rostec, Kamaz, Tupolev, and the United Aircraft Corporation.

Fifty-seven individuals also had sanctions placed against them, including Anatoly Serdyukov, who served as the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation between 2007 and 2012. The complete list of sanctioned individuals can be seen here.
