Just a Little Horse Play

Just a Little Horse Play
These two seem s-mitten @govoritmsk on Twitter

On November 3, St. Petersburg police detained three young men, ages 19, 29, and 27, for putting mittens on some of the city’s equestrian statuary. Two of the men dressed the horses, while a third filmed the activity on a drone.

The three have been detained so authorities can determine whether their actions represented any particular offense, besides caring for the city's unblinking residents.

The men, however, insist no harm was intended. On the one hoof, they thought the unusual apparel might remind the citizens of St. Petersburg to dress well for the winter. On the other, they thought it was only right because “monuments can be cold too.”

It seems that there are worse crimes. Much worse crimes.

Trolling Horse People

“For those not familiar with the lyrics of this song, I recommend it. It’s some horse people and absolute drivel. I simply don’t understand what it is. What is it about?... Somehow everything is very strange, mildly speaking.” – On March 31, Russia’s Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko commented on the lyrics of “Russian Woman,” a song that the Russian-Tajik artist Manizha, who is known for her feminist activism, will soon be performing at Eurovision.
