Jonathan C. Slaght

Jonathan C. Slaght is the Russia and Northeast Asia Coordinator for the Wildlife Conservation Society, and authors a guest blog for Scientific American, “East of Siberia.” His writings and research have been featured on the BBC World Service, in The New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine, and Audubon Magazine, among others. Slaght is the translator of Vladimir Arsenyev’s 1921 book Across the Ussuri Kray (Indiana University Press, 2016). This unabridged, uncensored, detailed account of Arsenyev’s 1902 and 1906 expeditions is augmented by several hundred annotations, two maps, and nearly 40 photographs..
