Ivan Aksakov

IVAN AKSAKOV (1823-1886) was a writer and journalist, the son of the far more famous writer and memoirist Sergei Aksakov, and son-in-law of the poet Fyodor Tyutchev. A noted Slavophile, Ivan fought in the Crimean War and later promoted Pan-Slavism during the Russo-Turkish War. There is a town in northeastern Bulgaria named for him.
