Apollon Maykov

Apollon Maykov (1821-1897) was a prolific poet whose works richly portrayed Russian nature, rural life and history, as well as his love for the ancient world. Many of Maykov’s poems were set to music by Rimsky-Korsakov and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
