Alice E.M. Underwood

ALICE E.M. UNDERWOOD is a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature at Stanford University, where she specializes in literary and ideological deviance in twentieth-century Russian literature. While her research keeps her busy with decaying bodies, masculinity, and signs of decadence in the pre-perestroika Soviet Union, she sometimes takes a break to dabble in the poetic world of the Russian soul. In addition to teaching courses in Russian language and literature, she pens the occasional blog and edits Russian Life’s popular e-letter, The Weekly Russia File.
