The United State Department of Defense has spearheaded an effort to coordinate with 20 countries around the world to send military aid to Ukraine.

On May 23, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin convened a meeting of the Pentagon-led Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which brought together 47 nations that are helping Ukraine to defend itself against the Russian invasion. The meeting concluded with 20 nations promising to provide military aid packages to Ukraine, including tanks, missiles, ammunition, and helicopters.

Austin displayed his gratitude via Twitter. He specifically thanked Denmark for providing Harpoon missiles and a missile launcher, and also gave shout-outs to the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Poland, Greece, Norway, and Italy.

The next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group will take place on June 15, 2022, and will represent one more way that the international community is rallying to support Ukraine.
