History of Tattoos on Exhibit

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts has joined forces with the Parisian Musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac to bring a new exhibit to viewers that museum director Maria Loshak has called “amazing.” The exhibit is “Tattoo” and it traces the history of tattoos from all over the world. Viewers can visit the Tattoo exhibit from March 3-31 in Moscow. It includes over 200 items, including those from traditional craftsmen and more modern artists.

Museum Director Maria Loshak says the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts has long dreamed of this exhibit. According to the exhibit’s website, by hosting this project the museum “is fulfilling its mission both as a museum of fine arts and as a museum of the history of civilization.”

The exhibit’s stay in Moscow also includes an expansion: works from Russian museums and private collections have been added. The exhibit now covers over 3,000 years of tattooing history.
