A subscription to Russian Life is far more than the bound magazine you pull from your mailbox or the articles you read on our website.

When you subscribe to Russian Life you are supporting independently sourced and edited journalism by resourceful Russian journalists who are bravely reporting the truth from inside a Russia that is at war not just with the West, but with itself, with its future.

Good journalism is not free, and freedom requires a commitment to good journalism.

Yet we do not operate in a vacuum and, given Russia’s ongoing, merciless, and illegal War on Ukraine, we cannot know what the future holds for Russian Life. Since 2022 we have been taking it one year (or sometimes one month) at a time.

So fall is a time for reckoning.

We have decided that we are willing to continue publishing the print magazine for at least one more year. Are you in? Will you continue your support for independent journalism on Russia by renewing for one more year?

One caveat: Please don't renew if your term is not coming due before the end of 2025. (Your expire date is printed on your mailing label.) We will be snail-mailing renewals to all subscribers with less than a year left in their term (you can save us some printing and postage by renewing online at russianlife.com/renew).

For our part, we will continue to do everything we can to keep our costs low and quality high, but reality is reality, and that means the annual subscription price must rise. Even so, that barely covers the magazine’s basic costs, but it is enough to maintain our commitment to telling these stories that we feel need to be told. Of course, if you feel compelled to support our cause beyond the annual subscription fee, we would be honored if you made an additional contribution to our Journalism Fund.

Thank you for all you have done to support this magazine over the years. Next summer marks the 30th anniversary of our taking over Russian Life. So much has changed, yet one thing has not: Russian Life exists to tell stories others are not telling about the world’s largest country.
