Director Timofey Kulyabin is a theatre and opera director renowned for his bold reinterpretations of classical works. As artistic director of Novosibirsk’s Red Torch Theatre, he earned acclaim for productions including Eugene Onegin, Hedda Gabler, and a groundbreaking sign-language staging of Three Sisters, winning multiple Golden Mask awards. He has also directed provocative operas such as Tannhäuser, Don Giovanni, and Aida. In 2022, following his opposition to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Kulyabin relocated to Europe, where he continues to create internationally acclaimed productions marked by incisive visual style, psychological depth, and fearless reimaginings of dramatic masterpieces.
