Russian Life has been publishing in print continuously since July 1995, when our company purchased the magazine and made it honest – free of government control. Before that, there was a 34-year period when it was known as Soviet Life (published by the Soviet propaganda arm, APN Novosti), and then, briefly, after the fall of the USSR, it was run as a joint venture that published a few issues under its new title, Russian Life.
Our goal with the magazine has always been to share real, interesting, engaging stories, with no agenda other than to show Russia and Russians as they truly are, free of politics and propaganda. That said, we have been clear and unequivocal in our stand against the Kremlin's War on Ukraine and everything it stands for. We are appalled by the Kremlin's corruption, its infringement of Russians' human rights, and its attack on Russia's nascent democracy. We live in hope that Russia will soon find its way out of this darkness.
Russian Life Online was overhauled in the mid-aughts and is now an incomparable repository of over 8000 articles by over 1000 authors, covering everything from culture to travel, from business to history, geography to sports. And all of it searchable, cross-linked, and interactive. Many articles are freely accessible, but to read the full collection, you will need an online subscription.
Here are some of the recently published articles available to online subscribers.
