Russian Life magazine is published by Russian Information Services, Inc. RIS is a privately-owned publishing and information services company, with staff in Vermont and Moscow.

RIS has been in business for nearly two decades, and was founded in March, 1990. We began our company by publishing high-quality business and travel guides, maps and newsletters for persons doing business and traveling to the then USSR. Over the past 19 years, some of our books and maps have become mainstays for business and independent travelers to the region--our maps are considered so accurate that the U.S. Secret Service uses them to plan Presidential Summits to Russia.

In July 1995, RIS acquired title to Russian Life (formerly Soviet Life), which was founded in 1956. It is now the largest English language paid circulation magazine on Russia published in the world.

Prior to founding RIS, the company’s president, Paul Richardson, helped establish and operate one of the first joint ventures (and the first-ever franchising operation) in the former USSR. The venture was also one of the first foreign joint ventures in Russia to show a profit.

Our head office is located in Montpelier, capital of the state of Vermont.
