This year, the Russian Life Wall Calendar returns to Moscow for the first time in over five years. Featuring the work of eight Russian photographers, we follow Russia's colorful and vibrant capital city through the seasons, from fall at Novodevichy Monastery to summer on Red Square and winter in the Kremlin.
Our choice of theme is very deliberate: 2012 is the 865th anniversary of Moscow's birth, the 400th anniversary of its 1612 recapture from Polish invaders by a movement of national liberation (thus the monument to Minin and Pozharsky on Red Square), and the 200th anniversary of its destruction at Napoleon's hand (soon avenged by Russian troops marching down Paris' Champs Elysees).
This beautiful calendar makes a wonderful decoration for any Russophile's wall, home or office.
- The beautiful pictures (9x12 inches!) of Moscow are printed on thick, glossy stock to make every photo pop
- The date pages are printed on normal white stock, to make jotting down notes and appointments (in the nice, large date spaces) smudge free
- Spiral-bound with quality, double-ring wire – this makes it durable, plus lets it lay flat against the wall
- Over 200 important historical dates with "round" anniversaries
- Major Russian Orthodox, Western Christian, Jewish, Islamic and Buddhist holidays
- National holidays of both Russia and the US, including most notable Russian professional days
- Main Canadian and UK holidays
- Phases of the moon
- Months and days of the weeks are bilingual, all else is in English only
- Printed on post-consumer recycled paper, FSC certified
In short, a great gift idea for others and yourself!
