With them is OLGA SLAVNIKOVA, leading Russian novelist, Director of the prestigious Debut Prize. *4:30-6:00 pm: Discussion, Readings *6:00-7:30 pm: Reception (Refreshments, Light Fare) Hidden for the West is how crucial a moment this is in the art & life of Russia. The Soviet & immediate post-Soviet generations had much in common, obsessed with the Soviet heritage. Now they are being displaced by a new generation for which the USSR is mere history. This generation has been raised in a new and different Russia. They have new hopes and fears, different lives and aspirations. Theirs is a complex new Russia, one it is incumbent upon the West to understand.
