Nora Seligman Favorov is a Russian-to-English translator specializing in Russian history and literature. Her recent translations include the 1863 novel City Folk and Country Folk by Sofia Khvoshchinskaya (Russian Library, 2017) and Stalin: New Biography of a Dictator by Oleg Khlevniuk (Yale, 2015), selected as Pushkin House UK’s “best Russian book in translation” for 2016. Involved in the American Translators Association for decades, she currently serves on ATA’s Certification Committee and is associate editor of ATA’s Slavic Languages Division newsletter, SlavFile. A Russian-history buff, she has been translating Russian Life’s “Calendar” feature since 2005 and serves as the magazine’s translation editor.
