PARTING THOUGHTS
The Summit is over and can certainly be considered a success. In short, it appears that Russia and the U.S.; specifically Presidents Putin and Bush; have the same objectives in mind when it comes to international security, arms reduction, Afghanistan and so on. The only disagreements and food for future discussions is how to go about accomplishing these common goals. Both 'baby boomers,' the two men seem to genuinely like each other on a personal level. There's much work to be done, but what a different world this is from just a short decade or less ago!
"Indeed, in any country, the backbone of any country is not mainly the
people who live in the capitals, but also and mostly the people who live
hundreds and thousands of miles from the capitals. "
Vladimir Putin, Nov.
