Jennifer Cherkasov received her M.Ed degree from St.Lawrence University in 1983. She was a public school teacher for many years, as well as a professional cyclist and sports massage therapist. She has written for the Russian magazine Go! and Passport and has published travel essays about her one-year bicycle trip through Asia. She lives with her husband, Pavel, and son Sasha in Martyanova, Russia and Barre, Vermont where they run a non-profit organization for Russian orphans.
