Anatoly LibermanAnatoly Liberman born and educated in St. Petersburg, emigrated to the United States in 1975. He is a professor in the Department of German, Scandinavian and Dutch at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He specializes in linguistics and the medieval literature of England, Germany, and Scandinavia. He has been an active promoter of Russian scholarship and culture. Among his books are a translation of Lermontov (1983) and Tyutchev (1993), both with a detailed commentary on every poem, and editions of the linguist N. S. Trubetzkoy and the folklorist V. Ia. Propp.
